Sometimes I play by feel. This is one of those times, and there are a couple of notes that probably don't belong here. People often tell me they wanted to play music but they thought they weren't any good, and there are already so many people out there playing better than them. I used to feel that way a lot. I have an AA in Piano Performance. I practice concert level songs at night that have upwards of five thousand notes in each of them and I'm terrified to record and sell those tracks because I know it has all been sold before and probably by someone who has played it better.

I believe in my heart God showed me that music is going to sound different through every individual because it is affected by our individual souls. No one can play like you do. We all have similar chords but it explains how you can have the extraordinary genius of centuries old music played for hundreds of years and a modern singer hum a couple of bars over and over and be paid millions of dollars-they've got a soul, and they bring something different.

Even if you never play on a stage or are "good enough" that people even want to hear you play, if you have it in your heart, play for you. Play because you have to. And if you don't have any training at all, play by feel. Because even with decades of practice and loads of training sometimes that is all I need to do: play by feel.
